# V23.1.26 Birth Chronology Workbench Consolidation

## Scope

The Birth Chronology application was reorganized from twenty equal top-level tabs into six task-oriented workspaces while retaining the complete research corpus and legacy deep-link identifiers.

## Interface changes

- **Overview** — surviving interval, selected model, evidence layers, and live constraint report.
- **Gospel Accounts & Infancy** — Matthew/Luke comparison, travel constraints, and the editable infancy sequence.
- **Historical Anchors** — Quirinius, Herod, ministry back-calculation, and the Greek/textual records that affect those questions.
- **Models & Constraints** — model comparison, assumption builder, advanced interval settings, and saved scenarios.
- **Advanced Analysis** — sensitivity logic, dependency structure, argument maps, astronomy bridge, and the experimental conception reconstruction.
- **Sources & Report** — claim/source audit, source library, publication report, bibliography, and all ordinary exports.

## Methodological changes

- The default state is now the **Historically agnostic model**, not the September 11, 3 BCE project hypothesis.
- The fixed assessment language now states that no first-century source supplies a civil birthday and that exact-date proposals are model-dependent hypotheses.
- The 419,904-combination matrix is retained behind an advanced disclosure and explicitly labelled as sensitivity analysis rather than historical probability.
- The Zechariah–Abijah conception model is retained as a collapsed experimental appendix with an explicit warning that no secure external rotation anchor is available.
- Geography remains available as a Gospel/infancy sequence tool and is not presented as a birth-year selector.
- Basic data exports were moved into the same Publication view as the publication-grade reports, eliminating two competing export locations.

## Performance changes

- V14.1 and V14.2 advanced renderers now initialize their expensive matrices, argument structures, publication report, scenario storage, and specialist panels only when the corresponding secondary view is opened.
- The unused Astronomy Workbench dataset is no longer loaded by the Birth page; the dedicated Astronomy Laboratory remains linked and unchanged.
- Legacy `?view=` routes remain valid and resolve to the correct new workspace.

## Verification

- Six primary workspaces render with no horizontal overflow.
- The historically agnostic model is the initial selection.
- All twenty retained secondary views remain reachable.
- The rebuilt geography, sequence editor, Greek records, synthesis tools, bibliography, exports, and report generator remain functional.
- Birth browser smoke, engineering validation, editorial lint, service-worker regression, and the wider engineering suite pass.
